ARAKO continues supplying valves to Ukraine

Monday, 20 march 2017

The company ARAKO (belongs to the engineering division of the corporation Rosatom – Atomenergomash) continues supplying industrial valves for Ukrainian nuclear power plants. The last delivery – for the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant – was realized in February this year when 40 hand-operated bellows sealed globe valves, marked A10 and A20, were sent off to the power plant.

The company ARAKO has been supplying valves for Ukrainian nuclear power plants on a long-term basis. Last year, for example, the Czech valve manufacturer supplied for the Zaporizhia, Rivne and South Ukraine nuclear power plants in total almost 300 pieces of these special valves for more than EUR 2 mil. Further delivery, this time for the Ukrainian Khmelnytsky NPP, is planned for April 2017. The delivery will include special bellows sealed globe valves worth about EUR 600 000.

For information:
„There are 15 nuclear reactors in four locations currently operating in Ukraine, producing together more than half of the electric power produced in the country. Before the war conflict, Ukraine had been a large exporter of electric power. However, as the gas an coal supplies from Russia or the east of the country controlled by separatists were cut down, the production of electric power dropped and the importance of nuclear power plants grew further.“ (source: http://oenergetice.cz/elektrarny-evropa/jaderna-energie-na-ukrajine-jeji-bezpecnost/)
