Service department of the company ARAKO (it belongs to the engineering division of the corporation Rosatom – Atomenergomash) is involved in the reconstruction of an ethylene unit in the largest chemical site in the Czech Republic. At the end of last year, the company Unipetrol launched works on reconstruction of the unit in Záluží (it was damaged in an explosion in August 2015), which the company ARAKO participated in with overhauling of the built-in valves.

The ARAKO service department representatives made a complete overhaul on 86 pieces of valves. The head of the valve service, Mr. Rostislav Šárovský comments on the working procedure: “At first, a condition assessment was carried out. Due to the vast damage, it was decided that some of the constitutive parts had to be transported to the seat of the company ARAKO in Opava. The elements were partially repaired with CNC machines, while irretrievably damaged parts were replaced.” Subsequently, the ARAKO service team performed the reassembly of the parts at current positions of the welded valves in piping systems on site.

At the moment, the contract is by the company ARAKO fulfilled and the service manager expects a confirmation of a handover document, which will be delivered from the operator after successful pressure tests. According to a press release of the Unipetrol group, a partial resumption of the etylene unit in the chemical site should be set off already in July 2016. The full operation of the unit should be launched in October this year.
