ARAKO continues despite devastating floods

Wednesday, 16 october 2024

The premises of ARAKO spol. s r.o. were directly affected by the floods, flooding on 15 September 2024 to a height of 270 cm, clogging with mud, garbage and other debris.

To date, the electricity supply has not been restored due to the flooding of a key substation, which needs to be completely cleaned and dried out so that subsequent revisions can be made. At this time we are using alternate power sources through the electrical substations.

Cleaning, decontamination and disinfection activities are currently underway at the company’s premises, production at the site has not yet been restored and it is not possible to estimate at this time when this restoration will take place, again first of all everything needs to be thoroughly cleaned and dried and then service personnel from contractors and cooperating companies will come in for inspections and repairs. We are gradually contacting them all, but we have to wait for their professional opinion.

Although the floods interrupted the export process, it was quickly restored and we expect to be able to export our manufactured goods with minimal time loss compared to the planned deadlines.

We are currently unable to quantify the damages incurred, but as we wrote in our statement of September 23, the core production programs of valves for the nuclear power industry are being maintained by our strategic partners, and we are working as hard as we can to repair the effects of the September flood so that we can prospectively return some of our production machinery to service gradually early this year.

Despite the setback from the employer, we are paying all our employees 100% of their wages, with some sites currently being reassigned to other work.
